Happy Valentine's Day!  The concert is developing nicely.  The dancers are becoming more assured in their steps and the shapes of the pieces are becoming more well defined.  I watched some of Nick's rehearsal on Friday, and his piece is also progressing very well.  He has captured the "separation" from his lovers in quite a wonderful way.  It will be interesting to see how he develops both the attraction between them and the tension which keeps them apart.

"Conversations with David" went very well on Wednesday night.  Brittany treated us to stories of her early training and explained about her surgery.  The audience had a chance to ask quite a few questions and then we all watched "Alvin Ailey: Beyond the Steps" a PBS documentary about the Ailey company.  It was fascinating, insightful and inspirational and there was a spirited discussion after.  One person commented to me "I always learn something new!" as he was leaving.
