What a party! - April 13 PDF Print E-mail

I'm sure that everyone who attended our Kaleidoscope of Dance fundraiser last night at the Marriott downtown is till recovering today from a truly great and fun party.  We had about 350 guests in attendance, some of who were decked out in outfits ranging from mild to outrageous '70's garb. Polyester and hair were in abundance.  The Dance Kaleidoscope dancers performed a relentlessly upbeat "Ran Kan Kan," and received an immediate standing ovation.  Longtime company member Shane Patton was honored for 10 years of dancing with the company.  He was presented with a gorgeous ring with the DK logo on it designed by Aronstam jewelers.

Next came the delicious meal and an appearance by Asia La Bouche, on loan from Talbott Street.  Asia looked amazing as always, and the talk of the room was "Are they real or fake?"  The live auction was followed by dancing, and a performance by Diane Tsao who sang a couple of disco hits right in the middle of the dance floor.  Everyone was up and dancing to the disco hits including "YMCA" and "I Will Survive."  The party didn't wind down until way after 11, as people collected what they had purchased at the silent auction and checked out.

One big surprise was the appearance of the Mayor and Mrs. Ballard who showed up to lend their support to the event!  The Mayor spent lots of time talking to everyone, and taking pictures with Jan, the dancers and me.  He even drew a ticket for one of the raffle prizes.

All in all it was a great event, and hopefully we raised lots of money to help DK stay in the black.

I would also like to mention the upcoming Spotlight 2008 event at Clowes Hall on Monday April 21 which raises money for the Indiana Aids Fund.  Seventeen performing Arts organizations are collaborating on what is going to be a stellar night of performances. You can find information and buy tickets on the Clowes Hall web site.  Here is the link for more information:
