I spent all afternoon yesterday in the studio of my friend James Moriarty of Moriarty Media.  We got down to the task of editing the video interviews with the fathers of the male dancers which were recently conducted and which I am using in my new piece "I Never Danced For My Father."  It was a great deal of fun picking the segments that I wanted to use, and then watching James splice, correct, fade and color on his computer.  What an amazingly creative process, and it's all there at your fingertips and the click of a mouse.  And it happens instantly, quite the opposite of the choreographic process, where movements must be discovered second by second.

We spent some time this week in the studio working on the men's piece. There will be an opening group section, then solos for each of the dancers preceded by a video clip of their respective father.  Now that the film of the fathers is complete, I'm excited to see how the whole thing is going to work in the theatre.  What the fathers had to say about their sons is so moving to me, and I am thrilled to share their perspective with the audience.
