Multi-Disciplinary Residency/DO! Project (Dance Opera Project!)

2011-12: H.M.S. Pinafore

Gilbert and Sullivan’s widely popular comedic opera H.M.S. Pinafore, is the focus of our 2011-12 multi-disciplinary semester-long elementary and high school residency program. Students build sets, props and costumes and decorate the school for their own production.

The performance features Indianapolis Opera Ensemble singers as theleads, with students in vocal secondary roles and as the chorus and DK dancers as the primary dance artists with students as dance corps. In-school classes are held in choreography, dance, marketing, theatre production, acting and lighting design. High Schools students are chosen as mentors and teachers for the elementary student dancers,singers and stage technical support.
