Dancing Alone Together: Resources
As a thank you to everyone who loves dance as much as we do, and a resource for the community at large, we are putting together joyful activities and entertainment during this period of shelter-in-place. These include class and informational videos, photos, interviews and clips from our repertoire. We will add new bits each Friday, so check back.
Each week, we'll have a video here of one of the pieces from our vast repertoire or an interview with our dancers. This week, we're happy to share David Hochoy's iconoGlass. This performance was filmed October 27, 2013 at Indiana Repertory Theatre. Choreography by David Hochoy, music by Phillip Glass, lighting by Laura E. Glover and costumes by Cheryl Sparks. This video is sponsored by The National Bank of Indianapolis, and will availale on our YouTube channel for a limited time - from Friday, May 29 to Monday, June 1.
DK Kids Virtual Dance Classes
Our dancers teach children's dance classes through a program called DK Kids. While we're all at home and the studios are closed. The dancers have been creating videos for the enrolled students. After our students have worked with the videos, we're releasing three videos each week to the larger community. They're great activities for kids to stay busy and fit. Check back each Friday to see more class videos.
DK Graham Class Series
The dancers and Artistic Director David Hochoy are putting together videos that explain/teach each section of the Martha Graham Technique class. This is the technique our dancers train in three times a week, and on which much of the choreography the company performs is based. The videos are around 10 minutes, so it's a nice bit of exercise to be paired with a walk around your neighborhood. David danced with the Martha Graham Dance Company under Martha Graham herself, and became a rehearsal director for the company. Read David's full bio here—he's an interesting guy. Each week, we'll add three more videos until the series is complete.
We hope everyone stays healthy, and we look forward to seeing you back in the theater and studios soon.
