The best dancers seem to communicate with the audience. How do they do that? Through technical dance you'll explore different ways to communicate ideas and emotion. Start with an abbreviated modern class and then investigate creativity by working with Mariel to experience different ways to deepen and tell your stories physically. At the end of class, you'll put it all together when you learn a short piece of repertory!

In this class you'll experience the major principles of the technique based on "contraction and release," and using different parts of the body in opposition to one another to create spirals for dramatic tension. The class will consist of standing work and traveling across the floor.
