Touring

About

In recent years Dance Kaleidoscope has turned its performing efforts towards the Indianapolis community, providing 4 unique concerts per season with 16 opportunities to see world-class dance on stage. Under the new artistic leadership of Joshua Blake Carter, the company is ready to spread its artistry across the globe with the reintroduction of touring into the season.

Succeeding David Hochoy, a Martha Graham protégé, Carter brings his unique perspective to Indy, with his extensive background working in the jazz and contemporary veins. Carter plans to maintain a presence of beloved works introduced to the Company’s repertoire by Hochoy while pushing the boundaries of the dancers and providing accessible, immersive and emotional experiences for audiences.

THE COMPANY

Comprised of twelve professional dancers from across the United States and Europe, the dancers have already shown their ability to embrace Joshua’s expansive new movement and diversify their dance language.

The movement feels new and fresh for the dancers and based on the reaction to the debut at the Indy Fringe Festival, audiences felt this exuberance too. Jay Harvey, Arts Writer, said of the performance, “the public is afforded a bridge to the future,” and “the exuberance seems to be on the brink of punishment for the dancers.” The company is no stranger to choreography that showcases their athleticism and technical expertise and leaves the audience feeling invigorated and moved.

REPERTORY

In his inaugural season, Carter will introduce 10 new works into the Company’s repertoire expanding the already robust roster of dances that spans 50 years. As he works to envision the 2024/2025 season, the first he will completely plan, Carter will expand the Company’s guest artist program to introduce Indianapolis to leading choreographers and then take their works on the road.
