position summary

Dance Kaleidoscope is one of the Midwest’s longest-running professional dance companies and home to the Dance Kaleidoscope School. This position plays a central leadership role in advancing the organization’s visibility, revenue, and community impact. Ideally, we are seeking a mid-career professional with experience in donor relations, development, marketing and engagement who has exceptional organizational and administrative skills and can manage the full range of development and communications tools—from donor databases and CRM systems to email marketing platforms and Google Workspace.

This is a hands-on leadership role that blends strategic planning with day-to-day implementation across fundraising, marketing, events, and patron experience.The position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the leadership team.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Development & Donor Cultivation to increase contributed revenue
    • Partner with the Executive Director to develop and implement annual fundraising strategy
    • Identify, research, and cultivate potential donors and sponsors
    • Participate in donor meetings alongside the Executive Director
    • Manage donor stewardship plans, acknowledgments, and ongoing cultivation
    • Oversee sponsor relationships and benefit fulfillment
    • Maintain and manage the donor database/CRM, including reporting and analytics
    • Track fundraising progress and provide regular updates
  2. Marketing & Audience Development to increase ticket sales

    Partner with the Executive Director and graphic designer to develop and implement comprehensive marketing campaigns for performances, fundraising initiatives. Support Director of Education to maintain and increase school enrollment.

    • Oversee branding consistency across print, digital, and social media platforms
    • Supervise the Social Media Coordinator and guide content strategy aligned with marketing goals
    • Write and manage email campaigns, donor appeals, press releases, and promotional materials
    • Oversee the creation and production of printed performance programs in collaboration with the Executive Director, artistic staff, and the graphic designer
    • Analyze audience and enrollment trends to inform future strategies
  3. Events & Community Engagement
    • Partner with the Executive Director and Operations Manager to plan and execute:
      • Annual fundraiser
      • Supplementary programming: Open Rehearsals, Conversations & Cocktails, festivals, etc.
      • Sponsor luncheons
      • Season ticket holder receptions
    • Manage event sponsorship outreach and fulfillment
    • Oversee event logistics, including timelines, vendors, volunteers, and hospitality
    • Represent the organization at community events and networking functions
    • Develop strategic partnerships that create performance and education opportunities to support organizational goals
    • Coordinate and expand Dance Kaleidoscope's volunteer and intern programs, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, communication, and ongoing engagement to support the organization's mission and growth.
  4. Performance & Front-of-House Management
    • Coordinate preshow planning and coordination of the front-of-house patron experience, including recruiting, training, and managing front-of-house volunteerse
    • Partner with the Operations Manager to manage ticketing/subscriber renewals
    • Ensure a welcoming, professional patron experience, including hospitality for donors and sponsors

Qualifications

  • Experience in marketing, events, community engagement experience and fund development
  • Demonstrated success in increasing donations, ticket sales
  • Experience in planning and executing donor, patron and fundraising events
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • CRM/database management experience, particularly in MailChimp, Meta, Google ads a plus
  • Experience overseeing ticketing or front-of-house operations
  • Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Passion for the performing arts and community engagement

Compensation and Benefits

 

This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position with an annual budgeted salary of $62,500 plus a comprehensive benefits package including employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; generous PTO; and paid holidays.
