Singer/Songwriter Rufus Wainwright was once asked in an interview about his future with a lover. The artist simply said, “Nothing is forever, darling.” This quote inspired the title for Christel DeHaan Artistic Director Joshua Blake Carter’s 2009 work.
15 years later, Carter revisits this semi-personal coming-of-age story set to a suite of Wainwright’s music, including “Pretty Things,” “Leaving for Paris,” and “14th Street.”
The program also includes the world premiere of Carter’s Shaker Loops, set to John Adam’s vibrant score of the same name.
Performances will be held at the Schrott Center for the Arts on January 17 and 18 at 7 PM and January 19 at 2 PM.
